How are transcription credits calculated?
Two parts. The mode rate covers the AI transcription: Fast 2, Quality 4, Meeting intelligence 6 credits per audio minute. On top of that, every file carries the standard extraction charge of 1 credit per 5 MB or 1 credit per 5 minutes. For example, a 20-minute, 10 MB recording in Fast mode costs 44 credits — 40 for the transcription and 4 for the file. The exact total is shown before the job starts.
Are my files private and secure?
Files are encrypted in transit and at rest and automatically deleted after one hour. Uploads, processing, and downloads run on our EU servers. Transcription itself runs on specialist AI providers, so audio leaves our EU infrastructure for that step only — the Subprocessors page lists exactly who receives what. Your files are never used to train AI models.
What do I download?
You get an organized ZIP with transcript TXT, document exports, metadata, a file summary, and any selected SRT or VTT subtitle files.
Is Extract.FAST free to use?
Yes. Free users get 50 credits per day. Transcription is billed per audio minute on top of the standard file charge, so it costs more than plain extraction.
